Verygood.Thisnewspaceisyourreality.Whatsoeveryouhaveknownuptonowwasnotreally
you.Itwastheidentitygivenbyothers–theparents,thesociety,theworld.Nowyouarecomingto
encounteryourself.
Sometimesitwillbeveryscary–sorememberit.Sometimesyouwillfeelthatyouarelosingyour
identity...gettinglost.Soremember,thatishowithastobe–andgointoit.Losealltrackof
yourself,andthenforthefirsttimeyouwillbebackhome.Youhavetodissolveintothisnewspace.
Thereisgoingtobeagreatstrugglebetweentheoldandthenew.Aheadthereisgoingtobealmost
awarwithinyou,becausethenewwilltrytospreadalloveryou,andtheoldwilltrytoresist,tofight
itback,nottoallowittohappen.Thereisgoingtobeaconflict,awrestling,betweenyouandyou,
yourpastandyourfuture,thatwhichyouhavebeenuptonowandthatwhichyouaregoingtobe
fromnowon.
Soalwaysrememberthatthepasthastobedroppedandthefuturehastobechosen.Itisrisky...
thepastisverysecure,comfortable,convenient–butitisdead.Itislikeagrave.Ifyouchooseit,
youchoosedeath.
Thefutureisveryscary,frightening,butitisopen.Itisalive.Itisadventure.Riskisthere,insecurity
isthere,butthat’showlifeflowers–ininsecurity.That’showlifecomestobeintegrated–inrisk.
Themoreriskyoutake,themoregroundedyouare.Eachmomentwillbeathrill–sometimesvery
frightening,sometimesveryblissful.Icanpromiseonlyonething–thatitwillbeaconstantthrill,
frighteningorblissful,butit.willbeathrill.Eachmomentyouwillbecominguponsomethingnew.
Itwillbeaconstantwonder.Itwillbebothawanderingandawondering.

Fromnowonwardsitwillbeverydifficultforyoutoknowwhoyouare.Thisnewspacewilldestroy
alloldidentities,pastformulationsofyourbeing,boundaries,demarcations,definitions.Thisnew
spaceisverydangerous.Itislikedeath.Itcanspreadalloveryou.Itisgoingtokillyouutterly,
completely.Butinthatverydestructioniscreation.Inthatverydestructionyouwillstarthavinga
newlifewhichiseternal...whichknowsnobeginningandnoend...whichisnotofthisworld,and
whichisnotoftimeandwhichisnotofmind.
Soifyoucandare,thebenedictionisverycloseby.Ifyouarereadytobecrucified,theresurrection
iswaitingforyou.Sohelpthisnewspirittogrow.Helpthisnewspirittooverpoweryou,tooverwhelm
you,toeffaceyoucompletelyandtoeraseyoucompletely.That’swhatmeditationisallabout.

Justacceptthisstate.Don’tcondemnit.Don’tsaythatthereisnoenthusiasm,don’tsaythatitis
dull–becausetheseverywordsareantagonistic.Theyshowadislike–thatyouwouldliketobe
enthusiasticbutthereisnoenthusiasm.Youwouldliketobeinterestedinmanythingsandthereis
nointerest.Youwouldliketobeverysharpandeverythingisdull.
Acceptitsototallythatthereisnojudgement.Thisisthewayyouare.Andinfactwhatisthereto
beinterestedinlife?Thetruthisthatthereisnothingmuch.Whatisthere?Itisadullroutine.
Justacceptitanditwillbeatremendoushelp.I’mnotsayingthatbyacceptingittheenthusiasmwill
comeback–no.I’msimplysayingthatbyacceptingit,youwillnotfeelitasalackofenthusiasm.
Youwillfeelitasasortofrelaxation–thewholeattitudechanges.Thenyouwillnotcallitdullness,
youwillcallitanon-ambitiousness.Anditmakesalotofdifferencewhatyoucallit.
ThereisasayingofLaoTzuthatthewholeworldseemstobeverysharpandintelligent–onlyhe
isdull.Buthewasjoking.Hewassayingthatthewholeworldseemstobefoolishlyinterested–
runningandrushinghereandthere–fornothing!
Somethinghasstartedtohappentoyouthroughmeditation.That’swhyyouarefeelingnointerest.
Asortofrenunciationisarising.Sojustgoonworkingandremainuninterested–thereisnothingto
beinterestedin.Byandbyagreatbenedictionwillariseinyou.Rightnowyouarefeelingrestless
becauseyoufeelthatsomethingiswrong.Onceyouacceptit,therestlessnessdisappearsand
nothingiswrong.Thenthisisthewayyouare,andthisisthewayyouhavetogrow.
AsIcansee,yourenergyisbetterthanever.AsIcansee,itismoresettled,butthisverysettlement
isgivingyoutrouble.Evenifinterestinmeditationhasdisappeared,letitgo.Thereisnoneedto
forcemeditation.Thisisthewaymeditationwillhappentoyou.

Justsitsilently.Whenyouhavenothingtodo,justsitsilently.Thoughtsmoveinthemind–letthem.
Justbeawatcher,andthattoo,notwithastress,withnotension.Whatelsetodo?Thoughtsare
movingandyouarethere,soyouseethem,butthereisnoneedtoconcentrate.Justaverysoft
look...anunfocusedlook.
Forthreemonthsbeinthisdullness.Thisdullnessisgoingtofunctionasameditation.Thisisthe
wayrenunciationiscomingtoyou.Youwillfeelindifferenttomanythings–theyareworthless.In
facttheproblemwasthatbeforeyouwerefeelingsointerestedandnowyouarenot,soyouthink
thatsomethingismissing.Theproblemwasbefore,notnow.
Whenapersonbecomesalittlequiet,manythingsdisappearandlookfoolish.Whygotothehotel
andtotheclubandtalknonsensetopeopleandwearmasksandshowfacesandsmile?Forwhat?
Whatisthepointofitall?
Thisisgood.Soputyourenergyintoyourwork,andtheremainingtimesimplysitandrest,close
youreyes.Ifyouwelcomethisstate,thisstatewillgiveyougreatbenefit.Greatisgoingtobethe
pay-off,sodon’trejectit.AndreadmoreandmoreLaoTzuinthesethreemonths;thatwillbethe
rightbackground.Justreadafewlinesfromanywhere.
Hiswholetapeisthatwhatsoeveris,isgood–hisrenunciationistremendous.EvenBuddhaand
Mahavir,theirrenunciationisnotsototalbecausetheyarestillinterestedinachievingsomething–
maybenotintheworld;theyareinterestedinenlightenment.
LaoTzusays,’Allnonsense!Theworldisnonsense–enlightenmenttoo!’Hesimplysitsthere
doingnothing.
Justseethebeautyofit.Nointerestmeansnodesire.Noenthusiasmmeansnopassion,nofever,
nomadness.Youarebecomingsaner,butyouhavebeeninsaneforsolongthatthesanitywilllook
alittleweird.Youwillhavetogetaccustomedtoit.
ButIamhappy.Youmaybedull–Iblessyou.Bereallydull!AndIdon’tseerestlessness.Iseea
certaintranquillitycoming,acertainstillnessdescendingonyou.Icanalmostfeelitandtouchit;it
isthere.Butyouhaveawrongattitudeaboutit,sothatiscreatingabarrier.
Dropthatbarrierandletitdrownyoucompletely,utterly.

ourselves,wecancreateasortofoblivion,butitisjustatrick;itdoesn’thelp.Wearestrangers.
Thisfacthastoberealised.Andthatisthemeaningofusbeingadiscontinuity.
WhenweareinGod,weareacontinuity.Whenweareintheworld,weareadiscontinuity.Weare
uprootedfromoursoil...wearenomorethatwhichwecouldbe.Wearenomoreinthespacethat
isours–wearesomewhereelse.Henceeverybodyisseekingandsearching–andeverysearch
isinvain,becauseifwesearchoutside,wesearchintheworld.Andifwewanttosearchinside,all
searchhastostop.
Ihavebeenwatchingyouwhileyouhavebeenhere,andthisyouhavetoremember–thatyour
problemarisesfromyourbeingaveryseriousseeker.Seekingmeansseparation.Seekingmeans
suffering.Youcangoonseeking,anditisallinvain.Itisdoomedfromtheverybeginning,because
deepinsideyouistheoneyouareseeking.Thesoughthasbecometheseeker–thatisthe
discontinuity.Andwhenallseekingdrops,withersaway,andyouhavenomorehopes,thensuddenly
youaretherewhereyoualwayswantedtobe.Thensuddenlyyouarecentred.
Seekingleadsyouastray.Andthemoreyouseek,themorefrustratedyoufeel.Themorefrustrated
youfeel,themoreyouseek.Itbecomesaviciouscircle,self-supporting...goesonandon.There
isnoendtoit–itcancontinueforeternity.Onehastounderstandtheveryfallacyofsearch.
Seekandyouwillneverfind.Donotseekanditisthere.
Butitisverydifficulttostopsearchingandseeking.Itisverydifficulttodrophope,becausethenit
seemsasifthewholethingisfutile.Ifthereisnohope,whyshouldonelive?Forwhat?Whereis
themeaning?Themeaningisherenow–itisnotintheseeking.Butthemindgoesonsayingthat
ifyoudon’tseek,ifyoudon’tmakeeffort,ifyoudon’tgoforit,itisnotgoingtohappen.
Themindisnothingbuthopeanddesireandpassionforthefuture.Themindisadisease,afever,
afeverishstate.Youwillhavetounderstandit:theproblemisthemind.Andonceyouunderstand
howitfunctions,howitprojectsadesireintothefutureandthenstartsrushingtowardsit....Andit
goesonprojectinglikeanhorizon.Itgoesonrushing.Itgivesactivitytoyoubutnohappiness;it
keepsyouoccupied.Butitisaslowsuicideandnothingelse.
SoIwouldlikeyoutoponderovertheverymechanismofseeking,themind,theprocessofthe
mind.Onceyoustartlookingatthemindandhowitfunctions,thenthewholegamebecomesclear.
Thenonedayinthatveryclarity,theminddisappearsasifithadneverexisted.Itdisappearslikea
dream–andsuddenlyyouarecontinuousagain.
Itisjustlikeadream.Tonightyouwillsleep.Whenyouareasleepandyoustartdreaming,youare
discontinuouswiththeworldinwhichyouhavebeenlivingwhileawake.Insleepyouarenomore
thesameperson.Youarenomorethemother,thewife,thebeloved.Youlosealltheidentitythat
youhadbefore.Adiscontinuityhappens.Youstartdreamingofsomethingelse–unfulfilleddesires.

Inthemorningyouareawakeagain.Nowyouarediscontinuouswiththedream-world,but
continuouswiththewakingworld.Exactlythesameisthecase.WearedreaminginGod.We
areinGod,butinadream.Thatdreamisthemind,andbecauseofthismindwehavebecome
